Entertainment in St Augustine this week
Barbara Golden, Communications Manager for the St Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau, informed local Historic City News reporters about the following free and low cost entertaining events for our St Johns County readers.

Father Thomas S. Willis, rector of the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Augustine, has announced to Historic City News that Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has announced that he will resign as Bishop of Rome and, therefore, as the Vicar of Christ on February 28th.
St Augustine’s 450th Commemoration continues to remain controversial for its apparent lack of accountability and absence of any definitive budget limitations; and, true to form, City Manager John Regan has slipped another $92,740 Dana Ste Claire’s way — this time for brand identity elements and further website development, among other things.
Historic City News readers will have two meetings of the St Augustine City Commission to attend on Monday afternoon — prior to the regular at 5:00 p.m. business meeting, commissioners will meet in a workshop at 4:00 p.m. to discuss what some residents believe is the misuse of the PUD to circumvent protections afforded by city zoning.

The City of St Augustine has the opportunity to replace outgoing commissioner Bill Leary on Monday night; or at least to discuss potential candidates during the public business meeting — as of the distribution of the agenda, ten have so far expressed their interest in serving the two years remaining on Leary’s term.
