Dear Editor:
I moved to St Augustine about three years ago and have been trying to find a way to find and connect with other LGBT folks in the area beyond my personal networks.
The most exciting moment on Light-Up! Night is light-up itself with the honor of “flipping-the-switch” to light the city’s tree and the city itself being shared each year by members of the community selected by the mayor.
Detectives with the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office have attempted to identify and locate the man responsible for the theft of a $2,500 ocean paddle board for nearly two weeks without success; they hope that Historic City News readers will come forward with the clue that will help solve this burglary.

Dear Editor:
After just four months on the job, Yahoo! CEO Scott Thompson was terminated after it was discovered he had lied on his resume. How about Dave Edmondson, who in 2006 was forced to resign as Radio Shack CEO for claiming two fake degrees, or Ronald Zarrella of Bausch & Lomb, who listed a phony MBA from New York University on his resume, then offered to resign as CEO and wound up seeing his $1.1 million bonus rescinded. That’s all it took to undermine credibility with their board members.
In what some are calling a “surprise”, and others are calling “expected”, the last junior member of the St Johns County Board of Commissioners has been tapped to serve as Vice Chairman. Rachael Bennett, who defeated the sitting chairman, Ken Bryan, in the last Republican Primary Election, was nominated by Ron Sanchez, seconded by Jay Morris, and appointed without opposition.
Sheriff David B. Shoar shared with Historic City News preliminary Uniform Crime Report data that indicates, during the past six-month period, the overall crime rate in St Johns County has decreased 8%.
Other than a whole bunch of ribbon-cutting gigs, why does Florida need a Lieutenant Governor? Jennifer Carroll left office in March; and, the hallowed halls of state government have not collapsed, and we’ve saved eight months of her $125,000 annual salary.
