The Florida Inland Navigation District has placed a hold on funds to the City of St Augustine for marina repairs resulting from Hurricane Irma. The damage repair grant represented $625,000 that city manager John Regan was already spending after last Monday’s city commission meeting.
“After much consideration, I have decided that ThompsonBaker Agency will not be submitting a response to the City of St. Augustine’s Request for Proposals No. GS2018-06/ Insurance and Risk Management Services.”
Respected and accomplished local educators have endorsed Kelly Barrera’s bid for re-election as the District 4 representative on the St. Johns County School Board in an announcement received by Historic City News this morning.
The city’s Mobility Office tells Historic City News local reporters that they will host two neighborhood “open house” events before finalizing their plans on such topics as parking, yellow curbing, sidewalks, speed management, cut through traffic, and many other issues.
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Monica R. Reifeiss, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.
Indivisible St Johns appears to be divided in their endorsement for Florida’s next governor. In fact, according to an announcement to Historic City News yesterday, statewide voting by local Indivisible groups resulted in a national gubernatorial endorsement of Andrew Gillum. “Please know that this national office endorsement does not constitute an endorsement by our group,” the locally divided-indivisible group wrote to its members.
Historic City News readers who own property in the City of St. Augustine recently received notices for the 2018/2019 Fire Assessment Fee; an additional fee over and above regular property taxes that may only be used to support fire protection services.
Historic City News was informed by Seventh Circuit State Attorney R.J. Larizza this afternoon that a St. Johns County jury deliberated less than three hours before rendering their decision today in the double-murder trial of James Colley Jr.
