Historic City News reporters recall that on this day in 1963, more than 2,000 buses, 21 special trains, 10 chartered airliners, and uncounted cars converged on Washington, D.C. to hear Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. deliver his historic “I Have a Dream” speech.
Historic City News has learned from the office of United States Attorney Robert E. O’Neill that 69 year-old Lydia Cladek of St. Augustine Beach may be on her way home after a judge granted a defense motion Wednesday to modify conditions of Cladek’s pre-trial release.

Historic City News received word from Flagler County Sheriff Donald W. Fleming that a New Jersey visitor drowned today in rough surf just north of Flagler Beach at around 2:40 p.m.
Carolyn Smith, St. Augustine Humane Society’s Operations Director, told local Historic City News reporters that the second dog has been named for the “Abandoned to Adored” program and Freckles, an American bulldog, is ready for adoption.
Upon receiving word of this morning’s passing of Stetson Kennedy, Jacksonville’s first black mayor, Alvin Brown, released a statement to Historic City News and the media regarding the highly acclaimed author and civil rights advocate.
