Sea turtle nest located
Historic City News has learned that an endangered leatherback sea turtle nest has been deposited outside the conservation area on Vilano Beach — north of the Surfside beach access ramp.

Chamber Donates Auction Proceeds
The St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce reported to Historic City News that they recently presented a check for over $1,000 to the St. Johns County Center for the Arts at St. Augustine High School (SJCCA).

County boat tax proposed
St. Augustine Port Authority Commissioner Jay Bliss plans to propose that the county tax boat registrations to “provide a measure of fairness: those deriving the most benefits, boaters, would be providing a fairer measure of support.”

Tourism plan gets shaky start
Former Mayor and City Commissioner George Gardner, Editor of the St. Augustine Report, says that while our County Commission wasn’t thrilled with the Phase I report for a county Master Destination Plan, Mayor Joe Boles was “pleased to see the consultants moving toward our city’s own conclusions” on strengths and weaknesses in our city’s heritage program.

Public hearings to dominate city agenda
Historic City News has learned through the Public Affairs communique “The St. Augustine Report” that Monday night’s city commission meeting – its first regular session in a month – will be dominated by six public hearings.

Replica Nina and Pinta to dock here
Jay Humphreys has reported to Historic City News that replicas of Columbus’ famous Nina and Pinta will sail into St. Augustine, the nation’s first port, on Tuesday, May 5th.
