Historic City News readers will want to take advantage of the 2018 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday beginning Friday, June 1, 2018 and extending through Thursday, June 7, 2018. Qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax during this period.
A very small group, six or eight, demonstrators have spent much of the past two days “marching” from Heming Park in Jacksonville enroute to the public market at Constitution Plaza in St Augustine. Caught candidly on camera by passersby, there is clearly negligible impact on traffic or pedestrians other than occasional obstructions from hand-carried protest signs.
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Monica R. Reifeiss, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.
About 8:52 a.m. this morning, Historic City News was informed that a 2012 school bus, driven by 69-year-old Richard Paproski of St Johns, was stopped northbound in the right travel lane on US-1, north of Pine Island Road, with its safety lights activated.

The current demands to remove Confederate statues, names, flags, etc., are based on historical error at best and deliberate misconceptions at worst.
The City of St Augustine is telling Historic City News that a new brochure has been produced in response to the recent aggressive panhandling problems downtown. This brochure is designed to be given directly to tourists and others walking downtown in the evening.

Journalism is dead according to Sean Hannity, popular host on Fox News. His focus is on the broadcast and cable media outlets. However, the New York Times and the Washington Post are not excluded. The print media, newspapers in general, have also completely lost their objectivity.
