St Johns County Superintendent of Schools, Tim Forson, reported to Historic City News today his selection of Randall Jud Strickland, principal of Cunningham Creek Elementary School, to become principal of “Elementary M” currently being constructed at 2675 Pacetti Road. His nomination will be presented for confirmation to the School Board at its February 14 meeting.
Debbie Delgado reported the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.

Economic incentives and tax breaks for certain businesses have been in the news this week as their fate has been argued in Tallahassee. Palm Coast Representative Paul Renner is the sponsor of legislation that could eliminate those benefits that he says disproportionately advantage larger companies over smaller ones.
St Augustine Archaeologist Carl Halbirt told Raphael Cosme, a Historic City News reporter on the scene of what Halbirt calls a “once in a lifetime” discovery, that the dig going on beneath the mall at 1 King Street has unearthed a number of human bones which Halbirt says could very well be the skeletal remains of European settlers who accompanied the City’s founder, Pedro Menendez de Aviles, in 1565.
A citizen aboard a private boat reported to US Coast Guard officials the discovery of a human body adrift at sea; located about three miles east of Ponte Vedra Beach late this morning.
Historic City News has learned that relatives of a 63-year-old resident of Samara Lakes in St Johns County reported her missing to authorities last month. Neighbors in the 1200 block of Nocaway Drive say they have not seen the woman since last September.
Today, at the House Committee on Homeland Security hearing on border security in Washington DC, Congressman John Rutherford discussed coastal border safety with Department of Homeland Security Secretary, John Kelly.
