Demolition permit for historic Dow Museum home delayed

St Augustine’s Historic Architectural Review Board, hamstrung by the resignation-under-fire of its chairman, and declared conflicts of interest by two other appointed members, this week made the decision to deny an application for a permit to demolish the 1905 Carpenter’s House; one of the Dow Museum of Historic Homes sold to Old Island Hotels, Inc., and its developer-owner.

Police locate Ponte Vedra Beach robbery suspect

Historic City News has been notified that the 22-year-old Ponte Vedra Beach man, being pursued by Jacksonville police officers into St Johns County last night, has been located in Duval County and taken into custody.

St. Augustine Mayor Nancy Shaver has informed Historic City News that on Saturday, March 7th, the mayors of twenty coastal cities in Florida and southeast Georgia will join her in opposition to seismic testing in waters off the coast of the two states.
