According to Peggy Soules, the widow of Jim Soules who died unexpectedly on Friday, her plans are to “bring the carousel home” to where she lives in Port Charlotte. She is reported to have told televised news sources that the Davenport Park Carousel in St Augustine will take its final turn this Sunday before being dismantled and removed.
As Hurricane Dorian heads north, Florida Power & Light Company is working to restore power for customers impacted by the storm’s outer bands. Historic City News was informed earlier today that the company had restored more than 150,000 outages since the storm started moving up Florida’s east coast.

The Department of Lawyer Regulation of The Florida Bar informed local Historic City News reporters that the Florida Supreme Court has recently disciplined 27 attorneys disbarring two, revoking the licenses of four, suspending 17 and reprimanding four. Eight attorneys received additional discipline. Six had periods of probation and two were ordered to pay restitution. Disciplinary revocation is tantamount to disbarment.

Florida has been on the frontlines in the war between vacation rental platforms and traditional hotels. So far, major vacation rental platforms have scored most of the wins while hotel chains have seen their grip erode.
It is hard to imagine the focus on Marine Studios, now the Marineland Dolphin Adventure, when it opened to the public 81-years ago, on June 24th. Record-setting crowds estimated to be 25,000-30,000 guests attended the opening ceremonies in the days before there was a SeaWorld or the other “World” attractions of Central Florida.
