No time for complacency as City Monitors Progress of Hurricane Hanna According to reports received by Historic City News, St. Augustine Fire Chief Mike Arnold called a meeting of the heads of all city departments early this afternoon for an initial briefing regarding Tropical Storm Hanna.

All offices of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners and all St. Johns County Public Libraries will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2008, in observance of Labor Day.

St. Johns County Recovers from Fay

Historic City News was informed that St. Johns County continues in the recovery stage following the severe weather brought last week by Tropical Storm Fay. In total, Fay dumped an estimated 9-12 inches of rain in St. Johns County and caused over one million dollars in damage to individual residences and businesses.

City trash and yard debris collection underway

Tropical Storm Fay had barely departed our area before crews in the Public Works Department were on the streets of St. Augustine collecting debris left by the storms winds and rain.
