On August 23, 2016, a group of St Augustine Tea Party volunteers assembled at the St Augustine Beach City Hall to protest a recent action by the City Commission that restricts political free speech on city property.
Historic City News readers are welcome to attend a special meeting of the St. Augustine City Commission on Thursday, August 25 starting at 9:00 a.m. to review and discuss the 2016-2017 city budget.
A flag exchange ceremony will be held by the City of St Augustine on Friday, August 26 when city officials meet with a representative of the City of Avilés to exchange city flags, and Historic City News readers are invited to attend.
Neighborhood Council of St Augustine has informed local Historic City News reporters that they will not hold a Primary Election forum this year. Four candidates are running for City Commission Seat 1 in this election, the top two will move to the November General Election unless one of the candidates receives more than 50% of the votes cast.
