This week through April 11th, Hastings Youth Academy (HYA) is holding Donald Washington: Stop the Violence Week according to an announcement received by Historic City News today.

Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Homicide Unit are investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning at an apartment in the 100 block of Gunby Circle according to a report received by Historic City News from Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw.

Kevin Kelshaw reported to Historic City News that Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit will be out in force this weekend in an effort to remove impaired drivers off the road.

Kevin Kelshaw has reported to Historic City News that a 28-year old St. Johns County man was arrested on a charge of burglary to a dwelling Wednesday night.

According to an announcement received by Historic City News today, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that rural drivers and their passengers are among the least likely American motorists to regularly use their safety belts.

In accordance with Florida State Statute 775.21, this news release to Historic City News will serve as public notification that the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has been given information that a person judged to be a sexual predator is now residing within St. Johns County.

A 27-year old transient was arrested on several charges this morning after being released from jail on unrelated charges according to a report received by Historic City News today.

Historic City News has been informed that Sheriff Charles W. Morris has been removed from office by executive order of the Governor today following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the US District Court for the Northern District of Florida on February 25th.
