A 24-year-old resident charged with three-counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, remains in custody in the St Johns County Detention Facility in lieu of bonds totaling $6,000.

St. Johns County Emergency Management spokesperson, Kelly Wilson, informed local Historic City News reporters that the local Emergency Operations Center has moved into “recovery” mode; the Center continues to be operating at Level: 2 (Partial-Activation) 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Historic City News editor Michael Gold remarked that he never thought he would see it, but in Flagler county four men were arrested yesterday; two by Flagler Beach police and two by sheriff’s deputies, for violations of the posted curfew.

Hurricane Irma comes ashore

After leaving a path of destruction through parts of the Caribbean, Hurricane Irma’s eye moved through the lower Florida Keys this morning. By midday, the National Hurricane Center reported to Historic City News that the deadly Category 4 storm had begun to swing away from the Keys — and toward Florida’s mainland.

Historic City News reporting at 5:00 p.m. from the St. Johns County Emergency Operations Center.  Irma is moving toward the west-northwest near 9 mph. A northwest motion is expected to begin tonight with a turn toward the north-northwest on Sunday.
