St. Johns County 4-H celebrated “National 4-H Week” this week, October 4th through 10th, recognizing the rich and long tradition of the 4-H Youth Development Program according to a report received by Historic City News.

Historic City News has learned that at last Tuesday’s meeting of the county commissioner, the board adopted the 2010 Legislative Action Plan; a focused list of issues for which the County seeks assistance from our state and federal delegations.

With the busy fall event season upon us and holiday shopping right around the corner, the City of St. Augustine send a reminder to Historic City News about opportunities for free and discounted parking that are available downtown.

Leslee F. Keys, Director of Corporate, Foundation, and Government Relations, reported to Historic City News that Flagler College, the St. Augustine 450th Commemoration Commission and other partners were fortunate to receive funding under a Florida Humanities Council Grant.

In order to accomplish the installation of signs as part of the St. Augustine Heritage Signage Project, Carrie Smithheart, CEI Project Manager with England, Thims & Miller, Inc., reported the following lane closure schedule to Historic City News.

County Attorney Patrick McCormack’s office reported to Historic City News that the two-year legal battle stemming from the County’s decision regarding management of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre has been effectually ended.

Based on the published agenda, Historic City News is prepared for what should be a lengthy meeting of the St. Augustine city commission Monday night, October 12th.
