Governor chose to make Clerk an unnecessary political appointment

Historic City News readers are well aware of the upcoming Primary Election in St Johns County on August 30, 2016; and if they aren’t, it’s not because the candidates whose races will be decided, for all intents and purposes, who are plastering the highways with billboards, mini-billboards, and oversized yard signs asking for their votes.
Both former living Clerks of St Johns County, Carl “Bud” Markel and Cheryl Strickland, announced to Historic City News this week that they are supporting George Lareau for election on August 30th to the seat they once held.

The estate of the late Donna Lee Parks, a St George Street merchant who lived in her parent’s home and converted the remainder of the property to commercial use, was sold Thursday, July 14th at 11:00 a.m.
Andrea Larese reported to Historic City News that the sight of Civil Rights activist James Jackson demonstrating against the recent shooting deaths of two black men at the hands of police in Louisiana and Minnesota, as well as the shooting deaths of five police officers at a rally in Dallas, moved her.
