Slaves were emancipated in the United States 154-years-ago; more than five generations. The Ladies Memorial Association of St Augustine erected their first memorial to The Forty-Six lost St Augustine soldiers in 1872. Seven years later, the current memorial was relocated to the Plaza; 140-years-ago in 1879 — fully five generations ago.

FDOT road repairs and maintenance report
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Hutson: VISIT FLORIDA funding closed out
Funding for VISIT FLORIDA is “closed out” and won’t be revisited unless the main budget heads decide to do so, Sen. Travis Hutson told Historic City News reporters Friday morning.
