Florida Supreme Court disciplines eight attorneys

Historic City News received the following summary of disciplinary orders issued against members of The Florida Bar between May 30 and June 20, 2019. The Florida Supreme Court in recent court orders disciplined eight attorneys – disbarring two, revoking the license of one and suspending five. Two attorneys received additional discipline with one ordered to pay restitution and the other put on probation. Disciplinary revocation is tantamount to disbarment.

Bridge of Lions will close Sunday evening

The Florida Department of Transportation reported to Historic City News that they will close the Bridge of Lions on Sunday, June 23rd from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

Saturday protest to ban St Augustine’s horse-drawn carriages

St Augustine is again the focus of protest over its horse-drawn carriage business; this Saturday by an estimated 50 protesters with One Protest, a Jacksonville-based advocacy group, and Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, a statewide organization.

Road resurfacing scheduled for North City and Fullerwood

The City of St Augustine reported to Historic City News that the road work begun on Wednesday, June 19, will continue weekdays through Friday, June 28, from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Preferred Materials Inc., a city contractor, will be conducting road resurfacing

St Johns County joins state Guardian Program to protect students

Today, Historic City News was informed that Commissioner of Education Richard Corcoran lauded St Johns County for joining the Guardian Program to protect our students. There are now 33 counties participating in the Guardian Program and another 15 who have expressed interest.
