Palencia Elementary School opens this year
Christina Langston, Director of Community Relations for the St Johns County School District, reported to Historic City News that, during its last meeting, School Board members approved the name “Palencia Elementary School” for the school previously known as Elementary “L”.






Last week in St Augustine, retiring District 20 Republican member of the House of Representatives, Dr. William Proctor, gave his recommendation and endorsement to House District 24 candidate Travis Hutson.
The free Music by the Sea concert series kicks off tomorrow evening with a special 10th Anniversary concert beginning at 6:30 pm at the St Johns County Pier Park and Pavilion at St Augustine Beach, according to an announcement received by Historic City News from Civic Association Vice President Bill Jones.

St Johns County Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes reported to Historic City News that today is the first day that her office will begin accepting and holding qualifying papers for county, municipal and local district candidates for elected office in the upcoming Primary Elections.
The 1812 Spanish Constitution was in force after its first publication on March 19 1812 until Napoleon’s defeat and Fernando VII’s return to Spain in 1814 — short-lived but historically significant because it established a new system of government for Spain; designed to limit the power of the monarch and prevent corrupt rule.
Superintendent Dr Joseph Joyner announced that the St Johns County School District received scores from the Florida Department of Education last week for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test “writes assessment”.
