Sea turtle wash-back program needs volunteers
Sea turtle nesting season has resulted in 766 sea turtle nests — a 230% increase over last year’s count; so the St. Johns County Habitat Conservation Program is asking Historic City News readers for their help in this year’s sea turtle wash-back program.




After an hour of public hearing and discussion Monday night, Historic City News reporters watched as the St. Augustine City Commissioners advanced a proposed ordinance that will require “registration” and a limit of less than 20 at gatherings in short-term rental property.
St. Augustine Public Information Coordinator Cathy DuPont informed local Historic City News reporters today that the Public Works Department of the City of St. Augustine will be making improvements in water lines which will require a three hour water turnoff.
Troy Blevins, St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Director, reported to Historic City News that although summer is coming to a close, there are still many activities for the remainder of August and September — including popular after school programming.
