Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Monica R. Reifeiss, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.

Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.

Historic City News received word Wednesday that activist Ed Slavin has asked St Augustine city officials to delay approval of the permit to demolish the last remaining portion of the 1920’s era Echo House building until Ron Rawls and St Pauls AME Church can show that they have filed an advanced notice required by federal and state regulations noting that the demolition involves asbestos.

Dear Historic City News editor:

When the diamond-shaped “no parking” signs were placed on portable saw horses in the parking lanes of Cathedral Place and King Street on Easter Sunday, the number of available parking spaces were significantly diminished.  City of St. Augustine Ordinance 24-38 relates to the towing and impounding of illegally-parked vehicles, NOT any prohibition or restriction on parking motor vehicles.
