Born August 18, 1960, in Virginia Beach, 56-year-old Alice Ann Sutherland passed away at 9:13 a.m. this morning at her home on Davis Street in St Augustine; where she has lived since 1999.

This morning, the St. Augustine Police Department asked the public for assistance in identifying three thieves that entered Old Towne Liquors, located at 135 San Marco Avenue and stole several bottles of vodka last month.
The burn ban enacted by resolution after careful consideration of members of the St. Johns County Board of Commissioners in an emergency meeting held on May 9, 2017, remains active through tomorrow, May 16th. At that time, county officials will evaluate the weather and fire conditions, both locally and across the state, to determine if they should extend or lift the ban on outdoor burning.
Supreme Court Declines Republican Bid To Revive North Carolina Voter ID Law

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined once again to reinstate North Carolina’s strict voter ID law, which was struck down last year after a court ruled it was intentionally designed to stop African-Americans from voting.
Thomas Horace Hastings founded what we know as the “Potato Capital of Florida” in 1890; nineteen-years before the Town of Hastings received its charter.
The City of St Augustine reported to Historic City News that the commission will present Nancy Sikes-Kline with the Adelaide Sanchez Award for Historic Preservation, Restoration, Education and Interpretation at an upcoming regular meeting.
