The Kiwanis Club of Historic St. Augustine announced that last week they recognized a local St. Augustine High School student as their “Student of the Month”, according to an announcement received by Historic City News.

Party Chairman Harlan Mason invited Republican readers of Historic City News in St. Augustine and St. Johns County to attend a political rally, educational and social event later this Saturday at the St. Augustine Shrine Club.

St. Augustine Visitors and Convention Bureau Communications Director Jay Humphreys informed Historic City News reporters that in addition to a host of Halloween activities this weekend, the famous datil pepper will be honored during Sunday’s Datil Pepper Festival at the St. Johns County Agriculture Center.

Energy Efficiency Coordinator Lowry Shuler reported to Historic City News that Deirdre Irwin would address the next St. Johns County Energy Efficiency Education Series in a joint meeting of the Florida Green Building Coalition.

Joseph V. Montoro, Jr., was presented an appreciation plaque this morning for his generous contribution to the sheriff’s K-9 memorial — honoring K-9 officers and their handlers for their bravery and courage in the face of the most dangerous of law enforcement situations.

Law Enforcement Division Director Art F. May told Historic City News that he was recently honored for 30 years of service during an annual encampment and open house held at the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch in Live Oak.
