275-NSK-RESIGNATIONIt only took St Augustine City Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline 30-minutes to bang out her e-mail of resignation Wednesday morning when Assistant County Attorney Rebecca C. Lavie “refreshed her recollection” that she was in fact serving her second 4-year term on St Johns County’s Cultural Resources Review Board in contradiction to state law that prohibits individuals from holding seats on multiple decision making boards.

Ray of sunshine in fight for access to public information

Yesterday, Historic City News reporters learned that a move, credited to the efforts of the Florida First Amendment Foundation, the Florida Press Association, and other free-speech groups, brought some measure of success by removing language from a bill that would give judges unlimited discretion in awarding attorney fees in successful lawsuits against government agencies who deny the public constitutionally protected access to open records.
