New sales tax increase goes into effect January 1st



At about 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night, Historic City News will be able to report to residents whether or not a half-cent local option tax will increase the amount of sales tax collected in St Johns County above the six percent base rate.
Historic City News has received the final numbers from the St. Johns County 2015 property tax rolls. Tax collector Dennis Hollingsworth distributed the official tax bills totaling $385,987,421.20 via email and snail mail on Friday, October 30th.

Polls are closing today at 6:00 p.m., but Historic City News readers can continue early voting at all six designated locations around the county beginning at 9:00 a.m. Early voting will continue until 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening. There will be a two-day break and then Election Day will be Tuesday November 3rd.

Discussion and public comment will be heard by the St Augustine Planning and Zoning Board related to proposed revisions to the zoning code related to parking provisions for colleges and universities, and revising definitions and parking provisions for dormitory, dwelling, hotel, motel, and rooming house.
