County faces raising millage rate or layoffs
Although St. Johns County’s budget will not be finalized until August, the Board of County Commissioners has announced to Historic City News that they will have a Special Meeting on Tuesday, July 12th at 9:00 a.m. where staff will present the recommended budget for fiscal year 2012.



Historic City News will be on hand when U.S. Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar and the St. Augustine 450th Commemoration Commission holds its inaugural meeting in St. Augustine on Monday July 18th.
The land beneath the Matanzas River is the property of the City of St. Augustine, according to a statement given to Historic City News by City Attorney Ronald W. Brown.
Communication Manager Karen Pan reminded Historic City News reporters that the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting normally scheduled for July 5th has been canceled.
Alvin Brown announced to Historic City News and the media yesterday that a pair of Democratic legislators from Northeast Florida will serve in his administration when he takes office as Jacksonville’s first black mayor today.
