According to Florida Department of Corrections records, the Florida Department of Children and Families, and the Florida sex offender registry, as of July 15, 2013, Historic City News has found that St Johns County has suffered ten convicted sex offenders who were convicted of new sex crimes after being released under the Jimmy Ryce law.

Historic City News was advised that a Matanzas High School English teacher and track coach was arrested this morning after a local teenager came forward and provided details of multiple sexual assaults between August 2010 and May 2011 while she was only 16‐years‐old.

An early-morning crime spree at St Augustine Beach on Wednesday has resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old St Augustine resident who police tell Historic City News is responsible six vehicle burglaries, two stolen automobiles, grand theft, and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Historic City News readers are cautioned that James Lee Lyons, a registered sexual predator pursuant to Section 775.21 F.S., is residing at 7548 US-1 South in Saint Augustine.  He is no longer under any form of confinement, supervision or any other court imposed sanction, although he continues to be required to register in accordance with Florida law.

Over the course of the past year, six victims have been identified by the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office as targets of a Johns Creek woman; who, investigators say, has been terrorizing her estranged husband, a former boyfriend, and now, his associates.
