When one observant Historic City News reader was waiting downtown to pick his teenage son up from work, the driver of a burgundy red Ford Mustang coupe sped up to a Flagler-College-aged female on the east-sidewalk of Cordova Street, threw open the passenger door, and began yelling for her to get into the car.

Under Florida law, a sexual offender or predator who does not have a physical home with an address is considered “transient”, subjecting the offender to more restrictive registration requirements than those with physical home addresses. Among other requirements, such offenders must report to the sheriff’s office every 30 days instead of only twice per year for offenders or quarterly for predators. Historic City News wants our readers to know the requirements.

The following partial listing of cases were investigated by officers with the St Augustine Police Department and reported to local Historic City News reporters by Public Information Officer Cecilia M. Aiple today.

Early this morning at about 1:30 a.m., Historic City News learned that Deputy Clayton Mayerlen and Deputy Jeremy Banks were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a Heritage Park residence on Wild Pine Drive.

As the investigation continues into the Saturday January 20th homicide of 20-year-old Kahlil R. Cooke of Mandarin, another arrest has been reported by the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Courtney Sean O’Meara, whose last known address was 134 Tanager Road, was arrested in Duval County and transferred to the St. Johns County Detention Facility nearly two weeks ago, according to information obtained by Historic City News this afternoon.

As the investigation continues into the Saturday homicide of 20-year-old Kahlil R. Cooke of Mandarin, two arrests have been made and a missing truck and its driver, of interest in this case, have been located by authorities.

A 20-year-old Mandarin man who was shot in the woods in St Johns County was taken by friends to an area hospital, where he died late yesterday afternoon.
