Historic City News has received a warning from the St. Augustine Fire Department prompted by reports of door-to-door and telephone solicitors who are stating that they represent the fire department when in fact they do not.

Historic City News has learned that Flagler College President William T. Abare, Jr. recently welcomed retired Flagler faculty and spouses back to campus for their February luncheon meeting and a scholarship presentation.

At the writing of this editorial, the Senate Governmental Oversight and Accountability Committee is meeting (Thursday, March 5, 2009, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) to consider SB 1104; a bill which we feel should be opposed.

Historic City News has been alerted that the reenactment of a 17th century raid on St. Augustine by Searle’s Buccaneers will necessitate intermittent disruptions of traffic in parts of downtown St. Augustine this Saturday, March 7th.
