Affirmed: Felons must complete financial sentences to vote

The Supreme Court of Florida handed Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Republican-led Florida Legislature a major victory last week by affirming that the language in last year’s Amendment 4 referendum requires felons to complete all financial obligations of their criminal sentences before they can register again to vote.

Among Monday’s activities commemorating the birthday of Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a gathering at the site of the confederate veteran’s memorial in St Augustine’s Plaza de la Constitution.  Historic City News local reporters interviewed Harold Kenneth (H. Dedicating the Trooper Wilburn A. Kelly Memorial Highway

Trooper Wilburn A. Kelly never thought for a moment when he left his home in St. Augustine on Saturday, March 23, 1974 that he would have seen his wife and daughter for the last time. Kelly had served with the Florida Highway Patrol for 22 years at that time.
