Today is the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot for Primary Election

Historic City News confirmed with St Johns County Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes, that the following candidates will appear on ballots already being circulated by mail to eligible voters as well as those to be used in the Early Voting process.  TODAY, August 8th at 5:00pm, is the deadline to request that a vote-by-mail ballot be sent to you by the Elections Office. To be counted, your properly completed vote-by-mail ballot must be received by the Elections Office not later than 7:00pm on Primary Election Day Tuesday August 20, 2024.

Editorial: All Republicans are not conservatives

Historic City News readers are concerned, given the current political climate, about the risk of relying on their own “gut feelings” to decide which Republican candidates represent their values.  We have learned that all “Republicans” are NOT conservatives, so it has become essential for voters to do more research before selecting which candidate will earn their vote on Election Day.

Ann Taylor endorsed for St Johns County Commission District 5

After careful consideration of the candidate’s qualifications for the office, the Historic City News Editorial Review Board has endorsed Ann Taylor for St Johns County Commission District 5. Volunteer members of our Editorial Review Board did not quickly come to a decision who, or if, to endorse in this race.  It was not a unanimous vote.  We did unanimously agree, after we worked through the steps, that there are longer range implications if we do not share the outcome of our analysis with our readers.
