Dear Historic City News subscribers:

The City of St. Augustine has announced to Historic City News that they will honor the Voice of Lincolnville by renaming Bravo Street to Carrie Johnson Way in a future ceremony. The proposed name change was aired during the Monday January 13, 2020 meeting of the St Augustine City Commission. Johnson, known as “Miss Carrie,” to almost everyone who knew her, passed away at 7:00 a.m., November 27, 2018. She was 83 years old.

The coach of the girl’s flag football team at St Augustine High School, 38-year-old Darrell Andrew Crews, was arrested on a sex offense Sunday night at about 9:08 p.m. He was taken into custody by the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office at his home reported to be 329 Gianna Way in St Augustine. He was released yesterday after posting a $1,500 bond.

Dear Historic City News Editor,
This is email I received from my County commissioner Jeb Smith in response to my email requesting clarification about the county commissioner’s meetings:

Christina Parrish Stone, St. Johns Cultural Council Executive Director, is inviting all Historic City News subscribers to participate in a series of online concerts featuring St. Johns County based artists during the month of April.

A nationwide strike on Monday, March 30th, to demand that Instacart begin providing its delivery drivers with leave time, preventative supplies such as hand sanitizer, and hazard pay to the tune of an extra $5 per delivery, claims that their shoppers aren’t being paid enough for a job that puts them at high risk to contract the new coronavirus.

Historic City News local reporters were provided an overview of the CareerSource Northeast Florida Region by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. The information from the Bureau of Workforce Statistics and Economic Research was current as of Friday, March 27, 2020, and was not seasonally adjusted.

Michael Ryan, Director of Communications for St. Johns County, informed local Historic City News reporters that St Johns County Beaches are now closed to pedestrians. We previously reported when the county banned vehicles from accessing the beach and closed all beach parking lots earlier last week.
