Shortly after 9:30 a.m. this morning, a yet unidentified man crashed into a cedar tree along East Park Avenue in St Augustine; resulting in severe damage to his late model Hyundai and forcing first responders to extricate him from the vehicle employing “the jaws of life”.
A St Johns County Fire Rescue spokesman told Historic City News this morning that last night’s response to a report of smoke coming from inside a structure in the 100 block of St George Street was an example of being “safe not sorry” — even though no fire was located.

St Johns County Administrator update
Synthetic drugs, commonly called “bath salts,” “K2” or “Spice”, have been reclassified by an emergency rule that effectively outlaws the sale, manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to sell these substances; and, recently the Sheriff tells Historic City News that his office has begun compliance checks.
Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that in November, St Johns, Baker, Clay, Duval, and Nassau counties in northeast Florida continued to experience declines in unemployment while the area’s hiring and housing outlook remained bright.
