Happy 340th birthday Castillo de San Marcos
Yesterday was a special day at Castillo de San Marcos, when the National Monument celebrated its groundbreaking in St Augustine 340-years ago; according to an announcement received by Historic City News from park guide, Jesse Olbrich.






Although she tells Historic City News that she is expecting about 30,000 absentee ballots to be mailed to St Johns County voters before the November 6 Presidential Election, Supervisor of Elections, Vicky Oakes, reported that the first 9,000 will be receiving their ballots later this week.
Ken Lawson, Secretary of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, alerted local Historic City News reporters that licensed real estate professionals, and others in St Johns County licensed by the Department, may be the target of an attempted identity theft scam.

Tony Bosco, President of the St Johns County Civic Association Roundtable, reported to Historic City News that at their regular monthly meeting on Monday, the organization of St Johns County community leaders will hear a presentation from School Superintendent Dr. Joseph Joyner and Dr. Patricia Gill.
When the Molasses Junction Tea Party holds their regular meeting next Wednesday, October 10, 2012, Historic City News has been informed that candidates for the remaining County Commission contests will address the members and guests.
