Florida Highway Patrol Captain Keith Gaston reported to Historic City News in St Augustine the results of “Operation Checkered Flag” that concluded at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6.
Elaine Fraser, owner of the Oldest Wooden School House Museum and Gardens in St Augustine, reported to Historic City News that next year’s celebration of the 500th Anniversary of Ponce de Leon’s discovery of Florida would be immersed in history, authenticity, and character.
Monday evening, during agenda item 8, the City of St Augustine commission will hear from City Manager John Regan and Development Director Dana Ste Claire regarding the progress of 450th commemoration programs; one of which includes another request for money for what more than a few St Augustinians feel has become a financial black hole.
Historic City News has learned from Tim Fleming, Deputy Director of General Services, that rival sightseeing companies, Ripley’s St Augustine Attractions and St Augustine Historical Tours, Inc., each responded to a request for proposals for the renovation and operation of the city-owned miniature golf facility located adjacent to the Municipal Marina at 111 Avenida Menendez.
When a dump truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight of 58,000 lbs. slows to make a turn, you want to allow them plenty of following distance — a lesson learned just before 5:00 p.m. yesterday evening when Historic City News was notified of a two-vehicle crash that sent one man to the hospital in a helicopter.
Laurie Sanderson reported the following St. Augustine and St. Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.
