Mayor and Vice Mayor may run unopposed
Qualifying for election to hold seats on the City of St Augustine Commission does not close until noon tomorrow — but, with just 24 hours left, two local attorneys, Mayor Joseph L. Boles, Jr., and Vice Mayor Leanna S. A. Freeman, have no opposition for re-election.






When the wife of a local attorney and real estate broker, Jonathan Bamberg, returned to their St Augustine Beach home at about 1:00 a.m. this morning, she says she tried to go downstairs to sleep on the couch when her husband attacked her and locked her in the bedroom; according to an arrest report received by Historic City News.
Historic City News in St Augustine was notified by the Florida Highway Patrol just after noon today that two St Johns teens were transported to Shands Hospital Jacksonville with serious injuries, after the car they were driving collided with a St Johns County school bus.
When St Augustine plays host to the 2012 National Underground Railroad Conference later this month, the National Park Service tells Historic City News reporters that there will be many opportunities for local residents to participate in the five-days of cultural activities.
Historic City News confirmed with contractors working for Latitudes Northeast Florida that the oversized delivery truck that wound up wedged under the broken planks of the street-side balcony of the Ximenez-Fatio house Monday, will likely be freed this afternoon.
