Remember the beginning of this project? It was to “Reconnect” the visitors and tourists to the historical district of the City. The underlying premise was to ensure the multitudes of visitors to the Castillo who did not cross South Castillo Drive to visit St. George Street would now be induced to do so.
The winds of change were strong at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds today — Historic City News numbered the crowd at about 1,500 – 2,000 state and local Tea Party members who turned out to show their support for smaller government, less government spending and lower taxation.
Michael Gannon is Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Florida.
Dr. J. Michael Francis received his PhD in History from the University of Cambridge. Since 1997, he has taught at the University of North Florida, where he is Professor of History. Dr. Francis has published numerous articles on the history of early-colonial New Granada (modern day Colombia).
As an active community historic preservationist for Boca Raton, Mrs. Dickenson has served on many boards, including the Children’s Museum at Singing Pines, the Boca Raton Historical Society, where she served as chair, the Boca Raton Junior League, where she served as president, and The Mounts Botanical Garden.
Joseph L. Boles, Jr. moved to St. Augustine with his parents in 1967. A native of North Carolina, he attended the University of Florida after graduating from St. Augustine High School in 1970.
