At the conclusion of an emotional sentencing hearing this morning, Historic City News watched as 38-year-old James Terry Colley Jr., previously convicted in the murder of his wife and friend in her north St. Johns County home, was sentenced to death today by Circuit Court Judge Howard Maltz.
St Johns County Chamber of Commerce announced three promotions to Historic City News today. Bob Porter has been promoted to Vice President of Public Policy. He will continue increasing the Chamber’s position as an influencer in the business community.
St. Johns County Beach Driving Passes go on sale December 3rd, according to an announcement received by Historic City News this morning. Tax Collector Dennis Hollingsworth is suggesting that a pass makes a great stocking stuffer for the holiday season.
Craig Funeral Home delivered to Historic City News this morning the report that Margaret “Peggy” Bassing Bailey, age 92, passed away peacefully in her home on November 17, 2018. She joins her beloved husband and father to her five children John Denver Bailey, Sr. who died just three months earlier. Peggy and John were devoted to one another, and her surviving family members take comfort knowing they are together again in Heaven.

Carrie Johnson was called “the voice of Lincolnville” in part because her voice rang out loud and clear and she loved to sing, speak, and pray so all could hear. St Augustine’s most beloved citizen passed away at 7:00 a.m. this morning. She was 83 years old.

The Oldest City in America, established in 1565, has an un-accredited police department, mismanaged by an incompetent, Napoleonic, vertically challenged Chief of Police – Barry “Barney” Fox.
On Wednesday November 14, 2018, two financial division employees, one of whom has been employed for 15-years, the other for 25-years, told Sheriff David Shoar that they were concerned about “suspicious vendor accounts” being paid by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
