Historic City News has learned that local historian David Nolan has been chosen to receive the Governor’s Points of Light Award according to the Volunteer Florida website.
Grants made possible through the Dr. JoAnn Crisp-Ellert Fund for Art Appreciation are available to organizations with programs that enhance art appreciation and art education in St. Augustine according to an announcement received by Historic City News this week.

Media Specialist Liz Daube reported to Historic City News that for the 10th time, “America’s 100 Best College Buys” has included Flagler College in it’s annual report of the nation’s top values in higher education.

Public Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News that St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the City of St. Augustine Fire Department jointly responded to a residential structure fire that occurred in the 2600 block of Usina Street

Betsy Clarkson, Recreation Superintendent for the St. Johns County Recreation and Parks Department has reported to Historic City News that her department has partnered with the St. Augustine Elks Lodge 829 and the St. Johns County Health Department to offer a free “Kids Fit Club” at the Hastings after-school program.
