Government waste is one of the most boring subjects to discuss. People automatically shut their brain off. We can talk about how the government wastes tax dollars until we’re blue in the face, but it doesn’t seem to hit close to home for people.

2014 General Election recommendations

300-EDITORIAL-BOARDHistoric City News convened the members of our editorial review board this morning to discuss and consider which candidates on local ballots could be recommended for election on November 4th. We realize that many readers have obtained an absentee ballot and are voting now. On next Monday, October 20, continuing through November 1, registered voters will go to the polls to vote early. Election Day is Tuesday November 4, 2014.

Nicole Sanders, a thirty-three-year-old law student at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, reports to Historic City News in St Augustine that she has uncovered evidence that suggests that Republican-turned-Independent-turned-Democrat, Charlie Crist, used his position when he was governor to “sell” judicial appointments in exchange for political campaign contributions.

St Johns County Supervisor of Elections, Vicky Oakes, reminds Historic City News readers that Monday, October 6, is the last day to register to vote in the November General Election. Qualified voters must register before the close of business on Monday directly with the Elections Office, at one of the designated registration locations like St Johns County Public Libraries, or by mail postmarked with Monday’s date. There are no exceptions.
