St Johns County Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes told Historic City News editor Michael Gold that if 30% of St Johns County’s registered voters cast a ballot in the Primary Election August 26th, she will be pleased. That number may be wishful thinking.
Early voting begins tomorrow, Friday August 15, and Historic City News readers will be exercising their right to vote at six designated early voting locations through Saturday, August 23 across St Johns County.

After lawmakers returned to the Capitol today for a rare August special session, progress is being made to quickly redraw congressional districts so that legislators can return to the campaign trail in the final weeks before this year’s Primary Election, August 26.

Two committees linked to incoming Senate President Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, have paid nearly $150,000 during the past month to a Gainesville political-consulting firm embroiled in a legal fight about redistricting records, according to finance reports submitted to the state.
