Documenting St Augustine tree inventory
The City of St Augustine is spending $12,000 to hire a Board Certified Arborist to provide an initial tree inventory that will be used to learn more about the city’s urban forest, its health, and what should be done to protect it.



Three primary agenda items, remarks from the School District Superintendent and public comments will be heard during a School Board workshop tomorrow morning according to information received by Historic City News this weekend.
All departments of the St Johns County Board of County Commissioners, St. Johns County Administrative offices, branches of the Public Library, and the Pet Center will be closed Monday, September 3 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
Communications Manager Michael Ryan reported to Historic City News that the Northeast Florida Regional Council would host a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 6 at the St Johns County Agricultural Center located at 3125 Agricultural Center Drive in St Augustine.
Historic City News reporters witnessed “return fire” at Monday night’s St Augustine City Commission meeting; triggered by a recently published letter from Commissioner Bill Leary that was critical of the city’s use of reserve funds and what he called “an unhealthy obsession” with the 450th commemorations.
In a continuation of the August 6 meeting of the St Augustine Beach Commission that convenes at 7:00 p.m. tonight, a four-page letter and three pages of e-mail submitted to the City on August 2 by Commissioner Undine Pawlowski titled, “Rumors and personal matters” will be aired.
This week, St Johns County Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oaks completed her “Public Manual Audit” of the official ballots cast during the August 14, 2012 Primary Election and was pleased to report to Historic City News that the overall accuracy of the audit was 100%.
