County offices close Sept 3rd – Sept 6th
St. Johns County reported to Historic City News that the fifth and final unpaid staff furlough day in 2010 is approaching; all departments of the Board of County Commissioners will be closed on Friday, September 3rd.

When he returned from meetings in Tallahassee before a panel of state agencies that makes recommendations on the use of state-owned land, City Manager John Regan was said to have won preliminary support from the Florida Acquisition and Restoration Council to transfer land to the National Park Service.

St. Augustine Mayor Joseph L. Boles, Jr., a vocal proponent of the cultural exchange program between St. Augustine and Aviles, Spain, including what some residents look on as expense-paid “vacations” or “junkets” for city commissioners and city staffers, tonight admitted his influence may have gone too far.
Early voting ended yesterday at 4:30 p.m., and Supervisor of Elections Penny Halyburton reported to Historic City News that a total of 8,398 ballots were cast countywide.
Historic City News has learned that a proposed ordinance to regulate short term rentals goes to a second public hearing when the St. Augustine City Commission convenes at their regular Monday night meeting.
This morning, St. Augustine City Manager John Regan announced to Historic City News that a delegation’s visit to Spain has been significantly trimmed in size and schedule.
