One of the three city officials directly appointed by the St. Augustine City Commission is the City Clerk — the position required by the city charter designating the person who shall make verification of authority on official documents.
On the heels of allegations that city commissioners may violate Florida’s sunshine laws if they attend a business meeting together in Aviles, Spain, city staff announced this afternoon that a new e-mail address has been established to collect ideas from the public on how the municipal government can make public records and meetings more accessible.
“As you can see from the news we all learned this morning,” said Paul K. Williamson of Mayor Joe Boles announcement Wednesday evening, “the details of the trip have evolved since this time yesterday.”
After an hour of public hearing and discussion Monday night, Historic City News reporters watched as the St. Augustine City Commissioners advanced a proposed ordinance that will require “registration” and a limit of less than 20 at gatherings in short-term rental property.
