In less than two-days, teams of law enforcement deputies and detectives have arrested a local 17-year-old expelled student, with a criminal past, who Sheriff Rick Staly told Historic City News reporters this evening, could be the first juvenile arrest on his watch that could turn into a death penalty conviction.
The investigation into the death of 18-year-old Curtis Israel Gray early Saturday morning in Flagler County, has led detectives to identify 17-year-old Marion Leo Gavins Jr. of 42 Woodlyn Lane in Palm Coast, as the suspect.
Sheriff Rick Staly reported to Historic City News that around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday evening, Flagler County sheriff’s deputies responded to RaceTrac at SR-100 east and Old Kings Road in Palm Coast after receiving a call about a verbal disturbance involving a man and his ex-girlfriend.
Historic City News reported when authorities found Jacksonville resident Everett Davon Thompson dead behind the wheel of a rented truck around 3:00 p.m. on December 23rd; and now, detectives say they believe 37-year-old Vermount James Anderson Jr. shot and killed Thompson during a meeting on Po Boy Farms Road, off CR-214.
At 11:00 p.m. Saturday night, Carmelo’s Marketplace at 146 King Street, was closing for the night, but three-hours later, the east parking lot turned into the scene of a large brawl that police say included at least one gunshot being fired before it broke up.
A sexual crime against a 7-year-old child and her mother by a family member was reported to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office on February 24, 2019. The mother reported the she had been the victim of this man’s aggression from the time she was 12-years-old until February of 2019, and estimated being victimized more than 500 times.
At about 5:09 p.m. this evening, Historic City News was informed by Florida Highway Patrol Master Sergeant Dylan L. Bryan, that a motor vehicle crash, involving a sheriff’s patrol car vs two motorcyclists, occurred at SR-16 at Harvest Lane in St Augustine.
