As we wrap up 2019, I’d like to take a moment to thank each of you for your support and for being a partner with the Friends of A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway.
Historic City News received word that two men who claimed to be on their way to St Augustine, fled the scene of an early morning traffic stop at SR-100 and the I‐95 north on‐ramp and leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit along Interstate-95. US Customs and Border Protection has determined that the men were unlawfully residing within the United States.
Yesterday evening, December 26, 2019 at about 5:43 p.m., Historic City News was informed of the third St Johns County traffic fatality in as many days by a spokesman for Florida Highway Patrol Troop G.
The Florida Bar, the state’s guardian for the integrity of the legal profession, announced to local Historic City News reporters that the Florida Supreme Court recently ordered 15 attorneys to be disciplined, disbarring five and suspending 10. One attorney was also ordered to pay restitution. Attorneys suspended for periods of 91 days and longer must undergo a rigorous process to regain their law licenses including proving rehabilitation.
The St Augustine Police Department informed local Historic City News reporters that they responded to a kidnapping complaint in the area of 50 Bridge Street, on Tuesday, December 24th, at approximately 8:50 a.m.
A spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol reported to Historic City News that a fatal crash occurred in the intersection of SR-A1A and SR-206 at about 7:00 p.m. on Christmas Day.
Last night Historic City News was informed by the Florida Highway Patrol that a two-vehicle crash occurred on SR-206, leaving one driver dead. Alcohol is not suspected to have contributed to the crash.
In and out of the Putnam County Jail in a record 10-minutes, 34-year-old Loren Tiffany Bolante, the daughter of David Shoar’s former undersheriff, Joel Bolante, herself a Police Department Communications Supervisor for the City of St Augustine, was arrested in Palatka Friday on a St Johns County capias issued by Circuit Judge Howard Maltz charging her with engaging in an organized scheme to defraud, a third-degree felony.
