Student receives University of Chicago fellowship

Wayne Riggs, Ph.D., adviser and assistant professor of history at Flagler College, reported to Historic City News that Nicole Howlett has been awarded a fellowship into the Egyptology program at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago.

Pedestrian killed by tractor-trailer truck

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. William “Bill” Leeper reported to Historic City News that a yet unidentified pedestrian is dead after being struck by a tractor-trailer truck on Interstate 95 in the area of mile marker 307 about 10:00 last night.

Carlisle Interconnect Technologies reported to Historic City News local business reporters that that they will undergo a multi-million dollar expansion at the Saint Augustine facility that will lead to approximately 90 new jobs over the next two to three years.

Historic City News reporters were on hand as Assistant City Manager Tim Burchfield told city commissioners last night that St. Johns County has rejected a city offer to relinquish the West Augustine utility service area to them for $6 million.

Pizza delivery may have lifted debit card number

St. Johns County Sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Kelshaw, informed local Historic City News crime desk reporters that a 20-year old local woman is in custody today; charged with grand theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.
