As the scandal involving how, for more than five years, St Johns County Sheriff David Shoar allowed the embezzlement of more than $700,000 to occur at a desk 15-feet from his own, the Florida Department on Ethics has initiated an inquiry in the matter that may hold a clue toward one potential attachable asset under state law governing specified felonies by public employees.

On Wednesday November 21st, when St Johns County Sheriff David Shoar called a make-shift, 27-minute press conference in his private office, inviting reporters he felt would be sympathetic to his predicament, he talked about how his Director of Finance, Raye A. Brutnell, was a “good person”, and, when asked, he said, “From everything I know remorseful to look like, yes. She was remorseful.”
Historic City News has learned that on Sunday afternoon, St Johns County deputies received a report that a silver 2019 Ram 1500 pickup truck was parked on Poa Boy Farms Road in the area of CR-214 and the driver appeared to be dead.
Community First Cares Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit philanthropic arm of Community First Credit Union, announced to local Historic City News reporters in St Johns County that they have awarded the inaugural “Champions for Children” classroom innovation grants in conjunction with Investing in Kids (INK!). Ten grants that support classroom innovation not funded through traditional budgets, were awarded to the winning St. Johns County teachers in November.
Friday, the Florida Department of Education announced to Historic City News reporters the names of schools in St Johns County that have earned the “Five Star School Award” for the 2017-2018 school year. The award is bestowed upon schools that are committed to incorporating family and community members into the school environment to enhance student learning. Statewide, over 700 schools earned the recognition.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Motor Unit reported to Historic City News that midway through the holiday weekend, they are continuing to conduct traffic enforcement operations at high crash locations to deter speeding and running red lights.
