City and County government offices close Thursday for Veterans Day

Historic City News has received notification from government offices in the City of St Augustine, St. Johns County, and the City of St. Augustine Beach that they will be closed Thursday in recognition of Veterans Day.

A ceremony with a special tribute to Vietnam veterans will take place today at Anastasia Baptist Church, 1650 A1A South in St. Augustine. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. this morning and the program will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Commissioner Smith resigns to serve as Florida Farm Bureau president

During the regular Tuesday meeting of the St Johns County Commission, District 2 Commissioner Jeb S Smith formally announced his resignation to serve as president of the Florida Farm Bureau: the state’s largest agricultural organization with more than 136,000 members. The Farm Bureau represents farm owners who produce all 300 of the state’s agricultural commodities.
