An updated global-positioning tool that shows your proximity to every public-beach access point in Florida, as well as information and locations for all of the 171 state parks and trails, is now available to Historic City News readers with an Android smartphone or iPhone.
The St. Johns County Board of County Commission Meetings are held the first and third Tuesdays each month commencing at 9:00 am in the St. Johns County Auditorium located at 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine, FL. The Board reserves the right to cancel and or change the meeting schedule as needed. Most Public Hearings for the County Commission will be advertised for 9:00 a.m. It will be left to the discretion of the BCC Chair as to the most appropriate time to break for the noon recess. Historic City News has learned that the members of the St Augustine Tea Party will hold their January General Meeting tomorrow, January 27, 2015, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Inn located at 900 North Ponce de Leon Boulevard in St. Augustine.
Nights of Lights
This is the last week to enjoy this year’s brilliant show of lights featuring nearly three million tiny white lights bring the glow of holiday magic to St. Augustine – from the ground to the rooftops. Selected by National Geographic in 2011 and 2012 as one of the ten best holiday lighting displays in the world. Holiday music, the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree and an exciting countdown add to the splendor of the lighting of this dazzling holiday light display. Tracing its origins to the Spanish tradition of displaying a white candle in the window during the Christmas holidays, the spectacular lighting reflects the city’s 449-year history and illuminates the beautiful setting for lasting holiday memories.
