During the regular business meeting of the St Augustine City Commission last night, more than 50 current and former residents of the city appeared before the five-member board to express, in no uncertain terms, their distrust and disbelief in what they see as manipulation of local codes to favor the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind.



Not including provisional ballots, Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes informed local Historic City News reporters that St Johns County voters cast 962 ballots in the first day of early voting in the Republican Presidential Preference Election.
Historic City News readers may recall that, in 2003, and again, two years later, the City of St Augustine sold bonds to investors — a high priority debt, given to raise money that was needed for the system that delivers water and sewer service to city taxpayers and residents.
In St Augustine last night, St Johns County Supervisor of Elections, Vicky Oakes, addressed Historic City News reporters and members of the Republican Party announcing the commencement of “early voting” in the Presidential Preference Primary Election.
Historic City News learned that Florida Senator John Thrasher from St Augustine stood alone yesterday as the only holdout against a Senate Bill that would regulate, rather than ban, so-called “Internet casinos” in the state.
Real Estate Coordinator Debbie Taylor called a meeting this morning of directors and senior staff of all St Johns County Health and Human Services Center agencies as well as County Administrator, Michael Wanchick, and his two assistant administrators, Darrell Locklear and Jerry Cameron.
After thirty-five years of dedicated service to St Johns County, Housing and Community Services director Tom Crawford recognized Wanda Brinson on the occasion of her retirement.
